Our client, an international association for the insurance and financial services industry founded in 1924, helps its 1200 member companies increase the value of their human capital. Currently we are looking for a Senior Programmer/Analyst in our Information Technology division. This position will report directly to the Director, Application Development & Support.
The Senior Programmer/Analyst is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing and documenting new application programs and systems for all divisions within the organization.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide programming, maintenance and support to existing systems through additional programming functionality, and system upgrades.
Conducts requirements analysis, develops system design, and implements computer systems under limited supervision.
Interprets, discusses and refines business requirements and produces design and implementation specifications.
Analyze requirements to be able to determine and recommend appropriate solutions for business problems.
Work closely with business unit personnel to fine tune programming solutions.
Assist business unit personnel in using tools appropriate for the application (for example, Business Intelligence tools within a data warehousing environment).
Travel is limited; incumbent may be asked to travel to attend training seminar/courses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
Degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 3 years experience developing complex applications for Windows and Microsoft SQL Server.
·Minimum of 3 years experience with SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 – working with database design and implementation, stored procedures, DTS packages, SSIS, SQL Reporting Services, and Analysis Services (designing, maintaining, and enhancing OLAP cubes) are the most common functions performed.
Understanding of Accounting concepts.
Experience with Sage MAS 200 for SQL, or other major Accounting software, a plus.
·Experience developing and managing data warehouses and using 3rd party or developing custom ASP.NET-based reporting tools is critical.
Experience with Business Intelligence/Reporting tools such as iQ4bis and Crystal Reports a plus.
Minimum of 2 years experience in ASP.NET/C# and various projects using Visual Studio 2005/2008.
Experience with both Team Foundation Server and Visual SourceSafe a plus.
Strong attention to detail, logical/critical thinking and analysis skills is required.
Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communication (including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms), as well as project and time management skills are essential.
Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment.
Customer service mindset.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, staff, customers, and vendors.
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as business requires.
Available for minimal travel as business requires.
