Job Description:
Our client is looking for a hands-on Systems Manager to lead a small team responsible for servers, security, and IT support across multiple locations. This person is responsible for oversight, management, and planning for all activities relating to servers, storage, operating systems, LAN, WAN, and help desk support. The Systems Manager will supervise staff and the scheduling of projects assigned to the Systems team.
Responsibilities Include:
·Architecture and design of the organization’s server infrastructure to deliver services with high availability and reliability
·Developing departmental specifications, policies, procedures and standards to guide the management of the networking infrastructure
·Available and able to provide on call support 24x7
·Day- to-day coordination and planning with her/his counterparts on the business side.
·Working closely with application and database teams to coordinate system upgrades, maintain optimal performance and ensure appropriate levels of system
·Providing leadership for the design, integration, and maintenance of network and server services such as: Network security, operating systems and server hardware
·Hands-on network manager, engineer and leader designing and implementing the backend infrastructure including servers, storage solutions, and enterprise systems
·Manage Systems staff, conducting employee reviews and mentoring.
·Implementation and maintenance of business critical clustered and failover systems and enterprise storage systems.
·Budget management and invoice tracking
·Ensuring that policies, procedures and standards are followed
·Performing growth analysis and capacity planning
·Acting as a project manager of IT projects by preparing project plans, interacting with other departments and guiding IT resources
·Developing evaluation parameters for technological enhancements.
·Reviewing and recommending technology to senior leadership and participating in the solution planning process
Required Experience:
BS in Computer Science or related area
8+ years of in-depth working knowledge in the support of IT infrastructure including virtualization, storage area networks, Help Desk practices, and Microsoft platforms
3+ years experience in a managerial role
Excellent technical knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting/support experience in an enterprise backend infrastructure environment
Excellent planning and coordination skills
Excellent leadership skills, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
Extremely self motivated and the ability to work with little supervision
Highly skilled and proficient in problem solving and able to follow a systematic troubleshooting approach
Preferred Experience:
Experience with WAN Acceleration and proxy services
Certification in VMWare ESX technologies
Previous experience in a highly-regulated data center environment
